CD Reviews

Not as Good as Das Testament
Herr der Finsternis | MD | 03/16/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I don't think this CD is as good as Das Testament, by itself. But if you were to listen to that and then this CD it would be good. Why? Because this is like a break from all that growling.

Its a very calm CD compared to the other one. Still good. But would probably be better to someone who liked soothing sort of music.

Well, none the less, I'll have translations up for this CD on my website (http://www.enomineforus.tk) by the end of this week for those of you who don't speak German."
Die Prophezeiung (Klassik Edition)

(4 out of 5 stars)

"I am a great admirer of E Nomine's work, but I can't give this album 5 stars.I've listened to this album a dozen times now, but I still can't quite decide what's wrong. A few different things struck me at first...The big hit songs from the Pop Edition (Das Omen and Deine Welt) sound very out of place with out their pulsing beats. It seemed some attempt was made to duplicate the feeling of the electronic sounds with the orchestra, which didn't feel right to me. The strong spoken vocals also seemed to disrupt the flow and feeling of the music. Some of the songs seemed to lack some of the grandeur that I expected from E Nomie, but were still good. Several songs actually moved me a bit more in their "Klassik" renditions.A few songs seemed a bit repetitive, despite the addition of subtle harmonies. I did (and do) get a minor chuckle when a horn section in Laetitia reminded me of the MacGuyver theme song.Overall this album does not have the overall power and emotion that typical classical music has for me, however I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Someone who is picky about their classical music will need to be a bit more open when listening to this album. This is no Wagner or Orff. I would still highly reccomend giving Die Prophezeuing a chance, but it may not be for everyone. Though it is a must have for E Nomine fans."
