"For those of you not lucky enough to live in New Orleans (yes, I said lucky!) or daring enough to hit Festival International in Lafayette, LA... you have been depriving youself of some of the best jazz/funk/rock fusion produced, probably ever. Headed up by Ivan Neville, Dumpstaphunk (NOT, and I will repeat, NOT "Dumpsterfunk") is some of the meanest music out there. These guys have only very recently started making the rounds on tour, getting their music out there and feeling out the response. Now, with the great resource of Amazon, you can get their first album for $5, and you don't even have to hit one of their shows (although why you wouldn't try is beyond me... listen to a track and you'll see)! The clarity of lyrics and beats, the layering of styles all come together here for a solid experience. Just grab a track, turn up the bass and jam. [...]"

"Ever been crawling through a dumpster and found a diamond? That's what you're going to get here. I've literally had friends (musicians) THANK me for turning them on to this band. Ivan Neville has put together a funk band for the ages. I can only hope they'll get close enough to me that I can see them live. All the tracks on this album are winners. I know there are only five of them here but you can't stop yourself from moving when "Meanwhile" hits the speakers. Warning: If driving on the interstate while listening to this disc, SET THE CRUISE CONTROLL! Personal experience tells me that it's really easy to go from the speed limit to triple digits without knowing (or caring). Thankfully the officer who got me agreed that this album could cause someone to drive to fast and let me off with a warning. This album is in my permanent "to go" folder.
