"I own 7 Dubliners CDs, and I'm always looking for more tunes to add to the collection. This CD included many that I did not have, so I was really excited. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed once I listened to this 3-CD set. This is DEFINITELY NOT "the best" of The Dubliners. Highlights include:

-Every slow song they ever recorded, put into this collection.

-Nearly complete lack of instrumentals

-Bulk of songs performed later in The Dubliner's career; lacking original members

-The very few old original recordings/tunes included, are poorly recorded live versions

-Includes very, very little of their hits, and well-known songs

That best sums up this CD collection. It really makes me sad to think that this CD set is the most popular CD bought here at amazon.com. It sickens me, actually. Please, please, PLEASE, if you want to buy a Dubliners CD set, choose either "Original Dubliners [Import]" or "The Best of the Original Dubliners [Box set] [Import]", which have 56 and 54 songs respectively. They include all their famous original tunes, recorded in the 60s. These are the songs you want. From the breathtaking instrumentals, to the sing-along pub songs, those two CDs have them all. Not this so-called "Best of" you are considering buying.

So please do yourself a favor, and DO NOT BUY THIS CD SET. Buy one with their original work. You'll be happy that you did."
Not a compilation at all ....

"This 'Best of' is in fact three individual albums: Wild Irish Rovers, Ireland's Prodigal Sons and Seven Drunken Nights. (You can buy one of these for nearly the cost of all three and also look up reviews of the individual albums). So there are no fillers or 'B' tracks here, nothing that you will feel the need to 'fast forward' if it crops up on the mp3 player. The qality on all the albums is excellent - even the live recordings - with a vibrant quality I find lacking in some of the other 'collections'. An excellent place to start if you have never come across the Dubliners or just want a 'single' albums. Some sons are steeped in history and the content - though not the music - will be lost on some but most - like the hilarious Seven Drunken Nights (live and they can only do 5 verses!) will not be."
