CD ReviewsA Drugstore for Ailing Souls Renato Mendes | Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo Brazil | 09/24/2001 (4 out of 5 stars) "Brazilian-born Isabel Monteiro deserves more attention in her home country than she's been able to get. With this her new collection of songs she has it all going for her. At once more mature and heartfelt than previous work, Drugstore's sound manages to avoid easy sentimentality, balancing Monteiro's honesty and melodical sense to a fine measure. The three first cuts, especially "I Want to Love You Like a Man" are immediate standouts. And "Navegando" finds Monteiro at her best, drawing on some long lost sense of Portuguese-Brazilian melancholy already hinted at in their previous album. Just that now the band has found its own "natural" track. Something special for reflexive times (or ailing souls) and, all in all, Drugstore's finest album to date."
