"The 1989 self-titled debut from Drive, She Said is about as good a recap of the whole 80's AOR scene as any album can be. Featuring (among others) Mark Mangold (Touch) and Bob Kulick (Balance), Drive, She Said unapologetically waded into pure AOR territory at a time when that sound was being overshadowed by Hollywood hair metal bands.



This is a fun, albeit very lite AOR album along the lines of REO Speedwagon, Journey, Toto, and lighter Bon Jovi. The caliber of musicians guarantees a high quality level, but would it have killed them to rock out a little? You could probably substitute 90% of all 80's movie soundtracks with this album and no one would know the difference. It is just so quintessentially 80's, what with its 50/50 split between love anthems and love ballads.



This is a tough CD to track down, so given its high price tag it's probably for AOR die-hards only, unless you're fortunate enough to find a cheap used copy (God bless those dollar bins!)
