CD Reviews

The Capitol albums
Peter Durward Harris | Leicester England | 03/31/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Following Don's long and successful career with MCA (during which time he recorded most of his famous songs including You're my best friend), he recorded for a couple of other labels. He never achieved quite the same level of success but he recorded some fine albums and had several major hits on the American country charts.

This collection contains all the tracks from the two albums that Don recorded for Capitol (New moves, Traces). There are no British hits here, but Heartbeat in the darkness was an American country number one hit while two other songs (We've got a good fire going, Then it's love) both made the country top three. Other notable tracks include Shot full of love, Light in your eyes, Senorita and Old coyote town, but there are plenty of other great songs here.

If you are new to Don's music, start with a compilation of his MCA hits - there are plenty to choose from - but if you've already got one of those, this mill make a nice addition to your collection."

"This is another outstanding collection of easy-to-listen to Don William's music. This is great music for traveling and really makes a person feel positive after to listening to such smooth, mellow music."
Too bad there isn't a 6 star category.

"This is the best music Don Williams has ever done. Content, selection of material, delivery.........the best. If I could only have one of his albums, CD's, whatever we are supposed to call them these days, this would be it. Everything else he has ever done has brought him to this perfect point. I cried at "Old Coyote Town", grooved to others, and the rest just stroked me. The only thing that bothers me about his music is that he doesn't do enough of it."
