CD Reviews

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Dolly Parton, country's greatest gift. All her hits on one album. Every track is great with Dolly duetting with several of country's heavyweights like Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn. 1: Jolene
Probably Dolly's most famous song is this one. It's a great mix of pop and country and a great start ti this album. 2: 9 To 5
The title song to the film. A great song featuring the female cast of 'Nine To Five' as backing vocals for this classic Dolly hit. 3: Here You Come Again
Not the best of songs on the album but still good.4: Everything's Beautiful In It's Own Way
The first of Dolly's duets is this one with Willie Nelson. A great song by two of the best!5: Love Is Like A Butterfly
This is another of Dolly Parton's classic songs and i love it.6: D.I.V.O.R.C.E
This is a cover of Tammy Wynette's hit...although not the greatest song of all time it is still way better than Tammy's version.7: Coat Of Many Colours
Not only is this a beautiful song but it has a real meaning behind it. Dolly wrote this song from a real experience. Her mother gave her a multi-coloured coat when she was younger and Dolly wore it with pride just like she sings the song.8: Harper Valley PTA
I'd never heard this song before i got this album but it's still a classic!9: In The Ghetto
A cover of Elvis' hit, once again Dolly makes it her own and it's hard to do that with Elvis, but Dolly does it!!10: I Will Always Love You
The greatest love song ever written and Dolly wrote it. Whitney Houston does a good version, but she can't even compare to Dolly's inspirational version.11: Heartbreaker
Another good track.12: Starting Over Again
This is the worst track on the album but it is still good, thats how great this album is!!13: Two Doors Down
I love this song, it is absolutely wonderful and is also another song that has reasons behind it.14: Baby I'm Burnin'
The most pop-like song on the album and she pulls it off great!! Dolly Parton proves on this song that she can sing pop songs as well as country songs. 15: The Great Pretender
Another good one.16: One Of Those Days
And another good one.17: Save The Last Dance For Me
And another good one.18: Silver Threads And Golden Needles
This song is a cover of Dusty Springfield's hit and is a duet with Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette. Although Dolly does not sing solo on this song it is still great and wouldn't have been if she had not added her vocals to it.19: Down From Dover
This is another great song by Dolly, it is written about a place in the USA called Dover, i always thought it was about the one in UK but there you go.20: My Tennessee Mountain Home
This is one of Dolly's classic songs. Like Jolene, I WIll Always Love You and Coat Of Many Colours it is tagged with Dolly Parton, when you think of her you think of one of these songs. Dolly wrote this about her hometown.21: Joshua
Great song!! I love it.22: Save Me The Pillow
Finally a great song to finish with.My only critisism of this album is there are a few tracks missing like
"Islands In The Stream" with Kenny Rogers,
"Applejack" and "Why'd You Come In Here Lookin' Like That" but the ones that are already on here make up for that. This gets five stars because it is absolutely fantastic!!"
