Synopsis

Product Description
Following the Circle is both sacred music and medicine; the music was composed and performed through Dik Darnell, who is adopted and has been instructed in the medicine way by of of the truly great medicine men and Ceremonial Chiefs of our Native American tradition.
Some of the power of this music magic is in its ability to be gently evocative for reflective journeying and at the same time supportive of the focus needed for deep healing.
With synthesizer, rattle, grandfather drum, voice, and the sounds of nature, Dik Darnell evokes Native American celebration of the 24 hour bio-cycle.
The music comes through Dik's heart in both ancient and modern ways. The sacred turtle shell rattle has been handed down for over three centuries. His chants feel even older. The synthesizer is modern while the traditional Sioux flute and the ceremonial drum are of ages somewhere in between. Amongst all these instruments are sounds of nature, including insects, birds, whales, ocean and the elements.

Language and rhythm and music and nature speaks

"Music for meditation. Music for reflection. Music for relaxation. In the explosion of technology, wall street, sky scrapers, pollution, the population explosion, AIDS, cancer, inflation......we are feeling alienated, distressed, overwhelmed, insignificant......and we long for quiet, privacy, quality, fresh air, clean water, no CNN around the clock, a weekend with nothing to do......this disc offers a momentary pause, a momentary respite from the pettiness, the burdons, the daily grind, a sanctuary of health and healing......we hear the tambourine, the drums, the wind, the thunder, the chanting, the rain......for a short time you might escape from all your troubles, from the heaviness all around......and feel something good, a momentary renewal, something to take with you when you return to the jaws of our modern day jungle. ps: I especially like track two, "Spirit Rain". This was the selection that I heard before I purchased the cd."
This is a remarkable CD!

"I have owned this CD for 10 years now, and it still is my favorite! I often use it for meditation and relaxation. I honestly don't care for the other things that Dik Darnell has done, but Following The Circle is amazing. I recommend it highly!"
