Lovely singing

"Here we have a really wonderful 'Zauberflöte'. Secure, beautiful and caracterful singing from especially Wilma Lipp (queen of the night) and Leopold Simoneau (Tamino). Further, both Papageno and Papagena sounds good and enjoyable in their character. And the casting of Christa Ludwig in the trio of ladies is certainly pure luxury. Neither Geuden (Pamina) nor Böhme (Sarastro) sounds as good as the rest of the cast, but that's a minor objection. The conducting of Böhm is vital indeed, still bringing forth the elegance of the opera's music. The weak parts then, what are they? Well, there is no libretto included, and since the dialog has been omitted, it's a real shame that you have to rely on a 'listening-guide' in this lovely but very peculiar opera. This one objection is of less matter though when listening to the singing. And look at the price. You won't get a better Zauberflöte at this price - maybe not at all."

"Esta es una version realmente interesante del siengpiel de Mozart, que cuenta con un reparto sin fisuras y la excelente batuta de un experto en estas lides como es Karl Böhm. El Tamino de LEOPOLD SIMONEAU esta cantado de una forma delicadisima y es un regalo para los oidos (aunque evidentemente no es Fritz Wünderlich). El bien cantado e interpretado Papageno de WALTER BERRY destaca en el reparto, asi como el imponente Sarastro de KURT BOHME y la afinadisima Reina de la Noche de WILMA LIPP. La Pamina de HILDE GUEDEN se mueve en unos parametros de correccion, siendo, sin desentonar demasiado, la mas floja del reparto. Todos los secundarios rinden a alto nivel (donde nos encontramos a nombres ilustres como la debutante CHRISTA LUDWIG, aquí 2ª Dama). El trabajo de KARL BOHM hace con la orquesta y el coro es la guinda de este pastel de autentica delicia mozartiana. Muy recomendable version."
