Synopsis

Album Description
While there is more known about the fables of Aesop than about the man himself, one thing is clear; Aesop set the stage over two millennia ago for all storytellers to follow. His fables have served for ages as examples of wisdom, morals, and lessons for humanity. Although his fables are almost always short and simple, he must be included among the greatest storytellers and teachers of all time. Diane has always included a number of Aesop?s fables in her repertoire, as much for the fun of expanding, embellishing, and adding music & song to them as for the timeless lessons they impart. This CD is the result of a family show that Diane was asked to develop for a special friend?s storytelling festival. Diane developed the music and songs for the show as well as new adaptations of some fables. While she is telling the story of Aesop in this recording, she is also telling & singing her adaptations of five of her favorite Aesop fables. Some of the fable titles are not the common titles usually found in the written versions, but reflect Diane?s personal adaptations. Erik Pearson, who frequently accompanies Diane on her appearances, also joins her on this recording with his banjo, guitar, and bass.
