"This is the perfect Diana Ross record. Richard Perry (Carly Simon/Ringo Starr) was at the height of his production powers and while this was not considered a success at the time (reaching the US top 20) it has far outlasted much of her 70-today output. I've owned this many many times over the years (sadly, I had it stored on my i-Pod without a back-up and accidentally lost it during an update) but I know I'll find it again. I can't tell you how many times people have heard it and wondered if this was a new record. She sounds incredible, the song selection is perfect: the ballads are perfect for her voice, and the uptempo songs jump. This is NOT 'collection' material. I'm a big believer that for great artists everyone should own one (at least one) original complete work to get what they tried to do (even if they didn't always succeed.) This ranks up with 'Dusty in Memphis' (an easy choice) and Carly Simon's 'Another Passenger' as CD's that should be in more collections."

"in the 70s DIANA ROSS released a string of hit lps such as DIANA ROSS 1970,LADY SINGS THE BLUES 72,SURRENDER71,TOUCH ME IN THE MORNING 73 AND DIANA ROSS 1976 and most of these are considered Ross classics but yet in 1977 Diana Ross released this lp produced by RICHARD PERRY and the lp reached #18 on the pop charts ,but yet it didnt do as well as the others.after almost 25 years i am still trying to figure this out as it is one of her best and strongest performances.Ross glides thru these songs with great ease as the style moves from pop to r@b to jazz and then ross delivers and glittering performance on COME IN FROM THE RAIN.i assume that this lp suffered from Ross being off the charts for over a year while she was filming THE WIZ.i bet she would rather forget that movie and erase the film from her resume but not this great lp.this one is a keeper.i still listen to this one after 25 years and still think its a stunning lp.one of her best.check out her DIANA ROSS 76 CD OR DIANA 80!!!!!SOME GREAT songs such as TOP OF THE WORLD,ALL NIGHT LOVER,YOUR LOVE IS SO GOOD,THE SAME LOVE THAT ME LAUGH."
Great songs & musicians make this one a must-have!

"I'm a big Tom Snow fan and he wrote two of the best ones here "Gettin' Ready for Love" and "Top of the World". I don't care for the ballads but that's minor as the other songs are mostly good. I love the funky "Baby It's Me" which Diana sings with Toto's Bobby Kimball. Similar to a funky song Olivia Newton-John recorded around the same time "Totally Hot". Most of Toto plays on this album along with Ray Parker, Jr. and David Foster. "Your Love is So Good For Me" is another fun, disco-ey song that someone should remake. I imagine this CD is hard to find, I'm going to look at Tower and Virgin, as I have the old album and it's warped!!!"
