CD Reviews

Another tight Devin Album...this one from Rap-A-Lot

"YEA, we all know he aint with Rap-A-Lot anymore, but that dont mean this one aint tight! I mean, Cmon...this is Devin we are talking about! Alot of tight beats, and funny lyircs...ITS CLASSIC DEVIN! It has 1 or 2 older songs with new beats, but most of it is new...He just didnt promote this one b/c he left Rap-A-Lot records. But when you listen to this one, it will remind you of The Dude album! SMOKE ONE!"
Another tight album from the Dude

"The Dude is back with his 2nd album of the day (and his last on Rap-A-Lot), this being his 6th solo, not to mention a few mixtapes and some group albums. This is the 7th album o fhis I own (his 6 solo's and his mixtape from early '08) and they all are 4 or 4.5 star efforts. Of course you're getting your drinking, smoking, and songs about women, as well as some very funny lines. Like his other album that came out the same day, it has 12 songs. The song listing on here and on the back of the CD is messed up. You get 2 almost classic songs, 5 ok songs, and 5 good ones. Guests are on half of the 12 songs. Production is decent as well. Domo does 6 songs, Mike dean does 3, Dr. Dre, Tony "Big Chief" Randle, and Caviar all do 1 song. A nice album to have from one of the most laid back and funny rappers out.

#1 - 9

#2 - 9.5 (f/ Bushwick Bill - tight beat)

#3 - 8

#4 - 7.5 (Jugg Mugg, Rob Quest, Big Mike, Menace Clan, E Rock, Z-Ro -- no Devin)

#5 - 9.5 (great beat -- also on Alchemist's "1st Infantry" album)

#6 - 8.5 (nice relaxing smoking song)

#7 - 9 (upbeat song - f/ Gar)

#8 - 7.5

#9 - 8 (f/ 14K)

#10 - 7.5 (f/ KB)

#11 - 7

#12 - 7.5 (f/ Mo Lew)

Lacks Production & Vision

"this cd is horrible for a real devin fan like myself. Rap-a-lot (which I support) simply put some garbage songs together since Devin is no longer on the label. Out of 12 songs....I semi-like 2. The rest...I hate. This sounds like a snoop dogg album when he was ready to leave death row....no soul, just slapped together out of desperation. Now....Landing Gear(his real release) is a pure CLASSIC. Dont be fooled. Hi-Life lacks THC."
