CD Reviews

The best Deeds of Flesh CD I've heard
Total Scumbag | Hell | 12/12/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD is fast, brutal, and intense throughout. The definition of brutal death metal. I only have this album and Trading Pieces and I can say this is the better of the two. This is actually Deeds's 3rd CD, Gradually Melted was their first (I haven't heard that album so I can't comment). Anyways, Trading Pieces is more brutal than this CD, but the songs on that album tend to be too short, and aren't as technical as the songs on this album. All songs are 4 minutes+ of all out brutal, technical death metal, but they tend to be focus more on brutality so don't start comparing them to bands like Suffocation or Immolation because they aren't that kind of band. If you like brutal underground death metal buy this CD as well as any other Deeds of Flesh CD buy this and support the underground."
Good music, but silly album art and lyrics

"Nice technical metal-- really fast and well played. Strangely catchy, too. The only problem is that I'm not sure whether to feel ill or just plain stupid while listening to it-- lyrics about all the most obvious sorts of lurid stuff-- cannabilism, blood, guts-- the usual cliches that any middle aged suburbinite would associate with death metal. It's pretty sad. These guys have definite musical ability-- it's a mystery why they devote their talents to such childish stuff. It's no different than the fascination little boys have for piss and snot and all the other bodily wastes. The inside cover art is a prime example of this-- really disgusting, I guess that's the point, but all the same, it seems pretty pointless to me."

"Over the years i've seen quite a few bands that has kept the underground scene alive, and well, deeds of flesh is one of those bands without a doubt. Having eigth albums in their career which all are flawless and very well produced i might add. Deeds, has establish as a band that can hold their own among the underground community and if you love the scene support deeds of flesh. Inbreeding the anthropohag, is my favorite deeds because of the originality of it all and how skilled this musicians truly are with again flawless production making this an underground epic. If you still haven't , i suggest you get the other albums by deeds of flesh! Recommended, by a true fan of underground music."
