Deanna Durbin is an unsurpassed entertainer; her popularity as a singer was a major draw to the movies she starred in. This recording showcases many lovely songs from her films. Even while singing difficult classical arias, Deanna displayed both ease and skill. In this compilation, my favorite songs are "The Turntable Song" and "Allelujah," although all of the selections are great. I was satisfied with the quality, although sometimes it sounds a bit muffled, but all in all it's good (c'mon, these were recorded in the 30s and 40s!) The only thing about this CD I would change is the cover, the graphic artist could have picked a better picture. Deanna Durbin is one of the most talented singing actresses of her time, and is often under-appreciated today.

TRULY SENSATIONAL!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I ordered the CD without knowing which songs were included, and was delighted to find some not usually done - singles Decca produced like "Always", "Say a Prayer for the Boys Over There", and "Spring Will Be a Little Late This Year". Plus, the engineer/technician for President did a superlative job of enhancing the sound. Bear in mind many of these were 1930's "lo-fi" technology, originally released as blue label, 10 inch discs, for a wind-up (or early electric) turntable, at .35/record. This CD gives one better reproduction than the original platters, and some reason to understand why early child star singers like Bobby Breen, Gloria Jean, Deanna, and Judy Garland were the popular stars we know them to have been. This is an excellent source of memorabilia, and just plain entertainment."
