CD Reviews

This is great music!

"No matter how an individual may define "great" or "music" ... this is great music.

When someone told me about this CD, I wasn't sure. It wasn't a space where I would normally look for "my" music. But now that I have it ... I've put it in my favorites.

Deana Martin's voice goes right to my heart and the accompanying music goes right to my feet.

My wife, who normally has a very different taste in music from me, has thanked me (right out loud) for pointing it out to her.

So if you're in doubt - go for it !"
The Best new CD since, well, Dean's last one...

This is a GREAT CD!

Deana Martin has a very pure, sweet voice that does justice to these wonderful old hits!! She does some of her dad's tunes (and a cute turn of lyric makes "Aint that a Kick" something special) and some of their good friend's best numbers.

The tunes you will recognize and probably smile remembering how much you enjoyed them when you first heard them. But her take on them, and her voice, will impress you and leave you wondering: Why is this her FIRST CD?

Songs by Uncle Frank Sinatra are represented of course, as are Sammy Davis and other of Dean's old friends. Also, a great Elvis song "Love Me Tender," reminding us that Elvis was a big Dino fan -- and once told Deana that he (Elvis) might be the King of Rock And Roll, but that her Dad was the King of Cool (and still is).

But with this CD, Deana proves that she is NOT just the celebrity kid of some star who bought some recording time...she is a true artist in her own right.

The purity and sweetness of the tone of her singing reminded me of the relaxing, sweet quality of her father's singing - it's the kind of singing that just makes you feel good listening to it.

The box and the booklet included are terrific. They're better than the average CD that you see - especially lately. They obviously spent a lot of time and energy on that and all the other Little Things that few appreciate, but many would miss if they werent there.

She says this was a labor of love but she didnt have to say it at all: it's evident throughout the entire CD. You cant listen to it without remembering the effortless, fluid, gentle crooning of her father.

But you also cant help thinking: She's a truly great singer no matter WHAT her name is!!

Buy this CD. Then buy a couple for friends: Christmas is coming after all.

Memories Are Made Of This, like the aroma of grandma's homem

"I'm in the business and very rarely actually listen to the CDs I receive. This one has been in my car cd player since I received it! It's a great new perspective on timeless music and a legendary voice. You can feel the pride of a daughter with every note she sings. Its like the kindergartener proudly pointing out "her daddy," Deana sings her father's songs with love, honor and respect. You're a Dean fan before you play her CD, but by the third song, you've unwittingly become a Deana fan. Do your cd player a favor, let the smoothness of Deana's voice set the tone for all the other music you may play on it. Memories are truly made of Deana Martin's new cd."
