Synopsis

Product Description
This release consists of the two Lifesong albums cut in 1977/78 backed up onto 1 CD. Dean scored a top thirty hit in the states with Ariel, and fared even better in the U.K., charting 3 times within 6 months in 1978, peaking at number 3 with Lucky Stars. Woman Of Mine, off the first eponymous album, made it to 52, and Lydia, from Well Well, Said The Rocking Chair making it to 31. Singer/songwriter Friedman made 1 more album for Epic in 1982, but these recordings represent the high point of his career.

CD Reviews

Dean Friedman' first two albums
A. Shapiro | Los Angeles | 06/13/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"As a songwriter in the 70's Dean Friedman wrote clever, sentimental, philosopical and quirky lyrics to singable melodies and memborable hooks. He wrote about characters from, "Shopping Bag Ladies" to people meeting for the first time, "The Deli Song." He also had one hit, "Ariel." He textured his songs with strings, jazzy arrangements, piano, guitars and layered vocals. His songs ranged from jazz influence to folk and pop. Even though he did not reach critical and popular acclaim his songs would make you laugh, think and cry. His songs could be listened to multiple times without boring you."
Great cd one of a kind

"It is strange but there are a couple of keepers like SnM and the deli song. I love the way his voice cracks on KEY."
