Gosh, I didn't think he could get any better

"Boy, was I wrong?! I loved his last album, We Can't All Be Angels - some really good songs there, even though MCA only released two singles. I have been a David Lee fan for about six years and since parting ways with MCA, he has written some good stuff which other artists have recorded -- On A Mission by Trick Pony, People Like Us by Aaron Tippin, Last Thing I Do was recorded by Brooks & Dunn on their Stars & Stripes cd, and also it is on Montgomery Gentry's new cd You Do Your Thing -- among many others! Anyway, Tryin' To Get There is the best yet. I can't pick a favorite song because every one of them is something almost everyone can relate to. The lyrics, the melodies... this cd has everything. There should be several singles released from this album if country radio has any sense at all. You just have to buy it and see for yourself."

"That wonderfully fun party song "Loco" alone makes this album worth purchasing, but you'll love the other tracks as much. Every song on this album could easily be a hit. Murphy gives us old fashioned, toe tapping, sing along fun with this one and is surely destined to stand onstage at the next CMA Awards. You gotta get this one!"

Great Traditional Country Music

"If you like authentic traditional country music, you will LOVE this CD. There is no bad track, and in contrast to another reviewer of this CD, two of my favorite songs are "Mama's Last" and "Beggin for Affection". I own everything this artist has done, and I rate this CD the very best. David Lee Murphy reminds me alot of Steve Earle's early work. I am really glad that Nashville is still putting out this kind of country music, although it is getting harder to find."

"Tryin' To Get There"

"It's been 7 years since David Lee Murphy's last CD release, but his latest, "Tryin' To Get There", has proved to be worth the wait. Like Murphy's earlier CD's, this outing provides plenty of party music; most notably the current hit, "Loco", which is racing up the charts, and "I Like It Already", which, as the opening track, is a prefect song to get things moving. In addition David Lee has managed to show his softer side in ballads like, "Inspiration" and "It Might Be Me", without losing the "edge" that seems apparent in his music. Another standout is the title track, which Murphy is especially proud of because he co-wrote it with the late Waylon Jennings. Over all, Murphy's voice and music have gotten even better over the years. Both have even more breadth and depth than his earlier, great, tunes. In summary, David Lee Murphy may have been off the charts for awhile, but like the wine in that dusty bottle from one of his earlier hits, David Lee has only gotten better with time."

"From the opening chords of I Like It Already to the end of the CD you know without a doubt you will "LIKE IT ALREADY".
Favorite, can't really say that I have one but as "MAMA'S LAST" is one that he has done live at concerts I would have to say that it get's a little more attention than the others. The inside cover of this CD says "Meant To Be Played As Loud As Your Speakers Will Allow" After listening to this CD let me advise you IT CAN'T BE ANY OTHER WAY.
David lee, just when we think you can't get any better you show us.
And you know as the final chord of Killin The Pain hits, THE BEST IS YET TO COME.
I know people who aren't big country fans and weren't big David Lee fans but after this CD, they are. What Talent he has always had, to write, and perform his own songs, and to also have others do the same. He may have been silent for the last 8 years but we're hearing him loud and clear.
TOTALLY AWESOME JOB."
