Synopsis

Product Description
Just when you get to the age where sitting in traffic and switching back and forth from the conservative to the liberal talk radio station sounds more appealing then sifting through the bush-league releases of the day, Daughters comes through with an untouchable new record absolutely snuffing out your now-so-surly being. Bumper to bumper, late for work, window down and more and more your thinking that a cigarette and a beer coupled with these stellar jams would end all right now!

Because that is exactly the kind of record Daughters' s/t is, the kind you can't stop turning up... The kind that satisfies every cultural / musical requisite a critical listener possesses while simultaneously reinventing the wheel... The kind that's so immediately gratifying that you don't even bother to compare your instincts with what today's internet has to say... The kind you won't have to remove from your automobile's CD player for months on end...

None of that, 'this band is my fine art project, musicianship is secondary because I am an artist foremost' garbage included... This is what the dudes in Daughters do and that fact has never been more apparent than in this record... Because, this time around, they absolutely nailed it! s/t is a ten.

CD Reviews

Daughters' Masterpiece
Byron Ridenour | Richmond, VA | 03/16/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Daughters is one of the most unique and genre-pushing bands out today. From the short, crazy behemoth that was Canada Songs, to their latest self-titled, Daughters continue to push the boundaries. Their newest is without a doubt, their masterpiece. I don't know if I like it more than Hell Songs, one of my all time favorites.(I think I do). But I can tell that this is the album that they were made to make.

What a wild and fantastic album this is. The songs are ,obviously, longer; and employing signs of "actual" songwriting. But the music itself is their most complex to date, even using handclaps and synths in the coda. It almost feels claustrophobic, there is so much going on in the songs. Also, they've added(for lack of a better word) a static-y sound to the top of the mixing. S/T is definitely Daughters' metal album.

I wish this album had come sooner than it did; I just love it. Definitely go out and buy it today, and help support one of the best and hardest working bands in the music scene.

Long Live Daughters 6/5 stars

The most interesting Daughter's album yet
J. Bulock | 03/09/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is easily the best Daughters yet. The variety across the album is really astounding, ranging from tracks that are musically reminiscent of their much older songs (The Virgin), while some are stay closer to the Hell Songs Rock and Roll territory (the Theatre Goer). Daughters continues to experiment and take their music in unexpected and exciting new directs. I wish more bands had the balls to do albums like this."
Wonderfully weird
J. Antonio Valera | 03/26/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Weird, experimental, brutal, creative, instrumentally amazing, extremely catchy and fun to listen to. Crushing riffs, pounding drumming. Vocals that sound like Elvis on acid. An easy five stars. Recommended to whoever enjoyed Hell Songs, or anyone who enjoys new music, really."
