"This duo founded by EPMD by the name Das Efx had so much originality that it actually may have hurt a more prosperous career as the entire industry began mocking their style. The debut, Dead Serious is comprised of nursery rhymes and a stutter step flow that originated from this LP. Maybe thought of as a gimmick, but this was East Coast hip-hop in its purest form. Filled with simple funk samples that acknowledged the flow. The fulfillment is in the orthodox lyrics by Crazy Drazy and Books."

"How could u give this album anything but 5 stars, mics whatever. This is the most original and imitated group and album of all time! IZ u STUPID?!! Man! I played this album over and over and over... These dudes should definitely be in the Hip-Hop Hall Of Fame! And don't listen to fools that say some of these tracks are wack. There are no whack Das Efx songs anywhere in the world. Buy this one. Definitely."

"In the history of hip hop there have only been a few albums so good that you literally get up and dance during the middle of it...well this is one of them. Probably the most infectious rap cd of all time, these Brooklyn MCs made a masterpiece from the start to the finish. Personally I feel this deserves to be among the 5 mic classics from the Source. I really can tell you no more than to get this album now by any means. Yes, it is really that good; and trust me...you won't be dissapointed:

"Das Efx was one of the most immitated artists in the early 90's.
Lyrically and style wise they were as original as it comes.
Even there look was unlike any other. There are a few filler songs on this cd. But They want efx, Microphone checker
and Straight from the Sewer are 3 classics.Even the videos
for each of these songs stand the test of time in there originalty. And if your tired of rap songs and videos looking and sounding
like commercials for whatever products these new artists are endorsing. Then You will love Das Efx. From the parka jackets to the gas masks there is nothing pretty about these cats. This
is music for men made by men before all these artists catered
to females (ll.cool j) .All in all this is a classic album. That no real hip-hop fan
should be without."

"Das Efx was a group that's kind of been forgotten through the years, but Dre and Skoob made some of the most entertaining raps of the nineties, especially on "Dead Serious". The Brooklyn boys are never really serious, and they are talented in their speed and raps. The production matches their lyrics and this is a really great album.

The first three songs on the album are the best. "Mic Checka" has a good guitar beat and the entertaining raps that become standard for the album. "Jussummen" introduces the boys as, well, "jussummen that's on the mic". "They Want Efx" is a classic, you still hear it today, because of the head spinning raps and "siggity stiggity liggitys" and the crazy beat. There are a lot of funny references to 90s culture if you listen to it. "Dum Dums", "Klap Ya Handz", and "Brooklyn to T-Neck" are all good too. I really like "If Only", which has a saxophone in the chorus and good bass with the good lyrics. "Straight From The Sewer" shows the playfullness that Das Efx was known for and ends the album on a good note.

Although Das Efx's name may be somewhat forgotten, their influence was felt in rap. Everyone from Rev Run to Kris Kross to Young Black Teenagers were saying "iggitys" in his raps by the nineties. "Dead Serious" is a really fun album to listen to, and all ten songs are good, and you can sit down and listen to the whole thing."
