Techno used to be the medium for those outside the box. Well, it is now the box...so Mr. Tenaglia got back outside that box. If you want trance, get his GU stuff or go see him live (something I'm in no position to do). This is not that. But that is not a bad thing. I'll be honest, at first I didn't get this CD. I expected Athens or London. So it sat on my shelf. I was doing some writing one night and popped this into my headphones. It was great, a throwback to a simpler time. There are some good pop tunes on here, some soulful divas, even some Arabic grooves thrown in to boot. Besides, find me one other artist who has the ability to weave an 'Allahu Akbar' into the mix and have it sound so good. It's great for just chilling. My only complaint would be the mixing. Not sure if it's meant to be a full mix but there are some fade-outs that I'm not used to. It's not a bad thing, really, but it's kind of like making your own mix tape at home. I will say, however, that these DJs have more music on hand then I even know exists. For that reason, the Back to Mine series is a great buy. I 'discovered' Beth Orton (from the Chemical Brothers first CD) after getting Everything But The Girl's mix and Jim White from Morcheeba's mix." Chill to Back 2 Basics A.
