Synopsis

Product Description
High Twilight is the debut album from Montreal singer-songwriter Daniel Isaiah. It's an ambitious work that makes no reservations about diving into big classic themes like love and death, sex and myth. Musically the motifs are each given their own treatment, as the record features everything from folk-rock to eerie chamber pop, French chanson and even a touch of Dixieland. But there's something about the old-school "band-in-a-room" sound, and Dan's voice (literally and figuratively) that manages to make it sound both contemporary and timeless. There is a great deal of care put into his lyrics (English and French alike), and his songs seem to unfurl confidently and naturally based on their strength. Daniel was born in Montreal and 1979 and has been writing songs and leading bands there all his life, from early teenaged days in the Harry Rags, to his later endeavours with Shoot the Moon and Percy Farm. He signed to Secret City Records (Patrick Watson, Plants and Animals) in 2010 to record his first solo album. Dan is also an award-winning filmmaker, and is just as likely to draw inspiration from Frederico Fellini or Ingmar Bergman as Leonard Cohen or Lou Reed. His 2008 short film, Three Mothers, recently won the A&E Short Filmmaker Award, and his latest, L'homme qui se croyait l'eau, just screened at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival.
