D.C. Anderson, one of Broadway and cabaret's most compelling performers, has gathered holiday songs by contemporary writers Jane Siberry, David Buskin and Lee Holdridge, Broadway composers Kander & Ebb, Lucy Simon & Susan Birkenhead, Mary Rodgers & Stephen Sondheim and Sondheim & Jule Styne, added a few traditional favorites and teamed with pianists Lem Jay Ignacio and Steven Landau, acoustic guitarists Roy Zimmerman and Steve Bargonetti and acoustic bass man Ritt Henn to create the Christmas release 'all is calm, all is bright' ! Songs receiving their premiere recording on this CD include Sondheim & Rodgers' 'Christmas Island at Christmas Time', Simon & Birkenhead's 'Heaven Can't Be Far' and Anderson and Landau's 'Hands'. "This is the most interesting, unique and satisfying holiday cd I've come across. I've always been a fan of D.C. Anderson's but this cd stands alone as a truly great piece of artistic expression. And that voice! I love the new Sondheim Christmas song that he recorded. The sticker on the cd said it is the first recording of the song ever. He's one of the great ones."
