Synopsis

Album Description
Ronnie Neuhauser's Congregation Against Styrocultural Brain Damage is an amalgamation of musical styles presenting socio-political observations. This work encompasses elements of rock opera, soul, jazz, avante garde, and spoken word. All of which are presented in a nontraditional style. While Congregation's name does provide a mouthful it is matched by a musical earful. The CD's cerebral assault is thematically broken into four acts. The myriad of genres in this CD tells a musical story beginning with Act I's, "Convocation for the Disgruntled," which is a calling of folks embroiled in frustration. The curtain rises on "Bile from the Belly of a Jackal" and presents a portrait of power villains in a decayed society. No sooner is Act II complete when Neuhauser delves into Act III's questions of spirituality and love, "The Unanswered Question." The last act, "Styrocultural Antidote," draws on Neuhauser's vision of a utopic musical environment where music becomes unboxed and diversity and eclecticism is valued.

CD Reviews

A wild trip!
08/06/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I just took a wild trip through four act's of pure creative energy the equivalent of space mountain meet's Spike Jones! The CD as a whole is strong with a clever mix of social commentary, political satire and a brain jolt savvy that would make Einstien's head spin. Act one is a coming together, a unity of sort's. Act two could be titled everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask. When you ask a question make sure you want to know the answer because Neuhauser serves it up raw and real. Act three is a beautiful blend of sound and soul. Emotion from the places that frighten us as well as soothe. Act four, the wrap up to an enlightened look at ourselves as a people with instrumental peices to wind down or wind up with! A CD that really must be heard! It's as if a drum swallowed up a poet and the result is sheer Neuhauser!"
