CD Reviews

Not the Doris Day you might think of
Scott Parsons | Sidney, OH United States | 12/15/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Oscar Levant quipped that he "knew Doris Day before she was a virgin!" I believe she also sang with Les Brown before she was a virgin. This is NOT the Doris of "Pillow Talk" and "Que Sera Sera!" Playing the discs I keep slipping into thinking I'm listening to early Ella Fitzgerald recordings from her Chick Webb period! Phenomenal! Beautiful! Rare treasures! I'd say ANYONE who is interested enough in this set to even be READING this review absolutely MUST buy it! And it's chockful of great songs you've never heard before too!"
The Complete Doris Day with Les Brown

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Hands down, this is Doris at her best. There are no loosers on this CD. She is young, perky and her voice is prime. With Les Brown and his band playing on every tune, how can you go wrong?"
