Good, "A" Bliss

""A Colour Symphony" is a spirited, finely-orchestrated piece, very accessible and with lots of nice individual moments. The 'Cello Concerto is stop-you-dead-in-your-tracks beautiful -- it's a shame it's not more well known. "The Enchantress" feels a bit dated, being a scene out of classical mythology, but it also holds up well. All-in-all, a good first disc for anyone who wants to know Bliss better. Vernon Handley and the Ulster Orchestra do some superb musicmaking, and it's good to hear Raphael Wallfisch on the 'cello again -- and doing so well!"
