Album Description
Claude Luter wills always best known for his work in leading the band that frequently accompanied Sidney Bechet during his Paris years, and for his own Bechet-inspired playing. Although he had his first lessons on trumpet, Luter soon switched to clarinet. Early on Luter recorded with clainetist Claude Abadie and trumpeter Boris Vian. He began leading his own Dixieland-oriented band in 1946 , and from 1949-55, they often worked with Bechet. Luter recorded with Mezz Mezzrow (1951), Albert Nicholas (1953) and an essential set with Barney Bigard (1960). 20 tracks. Witness. 2005.
