CD ReviewsVirtuosic take on Playford tunes and more Thinking Ears | 11/12/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "Highly recommended for all fans of early music, and a must-have for those interested in the tunes of the Playford English Dancing Master or the English Country Dance tradition. While many of the arrangements go well beyond what might work to accompany a period dance, the performances and interpretations are sublime. Dorothee Oberlinger's recorder work is worth the price alone, but you also get inspired ensemble playing throughout, top-flight passages of improvisation, inventive percussion textures, and so much more. Several non-Playford tunes from the period are added to enrich the musical landscape, and the pieces featuring lute and theorbo are masterful. Excellent!"
