Synopsis

Album Description
Japanese pressing of this holiday treat from Alvin & The Chipmunks featuring their first two classic Christmas albums from 1962 and 1963 on one disc. Under the supervision of Ross Bagdasarian (AKA David Seville), the original Chipmunks were original, funny and entertaining to both kids and their parents (unlike the '80s version, which was just annoying). These Christmas albums feature many yuletide favorites including 'Here Comes Santa Claus', 'It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas', 'Jingle Bells' and the immortal 'The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)'. EMI.

"While I am not old enough to remember when these albums originally came out on vinyl, I do remember my parents having original pressings of them when I was a kid. Over the years as records gave way to cassette tapes and cassette tapes gave way to CDs, these albums were released and re-released numerous times, with each time some tracks being omitted or the play order being rearranged. It was disappointing to say the least that I could not get copies of the original albums I have such fond memories of from my childhood on a modern audio format. When I found out that this import compilation was available, I was somewhat hesitant to place an order due to the price and fear that it would be yet another poorly done re-release. I am happy to say that Capitol did an excellent job at putting this release together. Not only are the two albums this is comprised of individually listed on the back track listing, but all of the original artwork and liner notes are included in the interior booklet. If there was one small complaint I have it's that half of the booklet is in Japanese since this is an import. It seems strange that this magnificent package would not be released domestically. However, the bilingual booklet is a small price to pay for finally having the two original albums in their entirety on CD. I've had this CD for a day and have already listened to it three times."
