Cher saw a major upswing in her career fortunes with the early-'70s soap operas "Gypsys, Tramps, and Thieves," "Half-Breed," and "Dark Lady," all collected here. Her best record of the period, though, was the simmering "Train of Thought," with a classic electric-piano riff setting the pulse. This wasn't the last time she'd reinvent herself musically, but it was possibly the most effective. --Rickey Wright

Concise 70's Cher Hits

"This CD has all of Cher's greatest solo hits from 1971-1974 including 3 number 1 hits. I bought the original album back in 1974 , and the transfer to CD sounds fresh & vibrant. I like the sequencing of this album, and the lower charting hits are really good too. A good choice for her Kapp/MCA label hits."
