How is it possible to have so much happening, at such a virtuosic level with only two musicians? This is gorgeous music played exquisitely and begs to be played many times. Every aspect of the disc yells out, "Exceptional quality!" from the elegant design by a fellow named Appleton, to the linear notes by Greg Sandow and especially the music itself. These two folks, members of the Bang on The Can All-Stars, play this music as if it was made for them - and, of course, it was. All of the compositions by George Lewis, Chinary Ung, Nick Didkovsky and others were composed for this duo of Maya Beiser (cello) and Steven Schick (percussion). If you want to hear the future of serious chamber music, pick this up."
