Synopsis

Product Description
Carl Schuricht was born in Danzing in 1880 and at the time of his death in Switzerland in 1967 was considered one of the last exponents of the Austro-German tradition. In his early career, Schuricht conducted a lot of modern music, but (like many of his contemporaries) gradually concentrated more on the great composers of the past. Although he lived to be 87, Carl Schuricht didn't leave a vast commercial discography. On the other hand, there are many live recordings in various European radio archives, mainly German and Swiss. That's the case of the present recording coming from Hamburg. This disc features Beethoven's seventh symphony (recorded in 1957) and Brahms' fourth symphony (recorded in 1958).
