Gorgeous music from the period of the enlightenment
Obi | SLC, UT | 08/10/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"C.P.E. Bach was truly ahead of his time. How programatic is his "Morgensterm" and how blessed is his "Heilig". If you can get ahold of this rare recording, do so. Wonderful music from a period of great transformation. This is unique music performed currently but written by a creative genius who happens to be dwarfed by his illustrious father. Even so, please appreciate the genius that was Carl Phillip Emmanuel Bach. Though not one of C.P.E. Bach's most important works, these vocal works are never the less very appealing, especially the "Morgensterm" and "Heileg" that show C.P.E. Bach providing very inspirational and surprisingly programatic music as early as the 18th century.

These works were originally released as part of the 200 anniversary of C.P.E. Bach's passing in 1788. I purchased them in 1988 and listened to them again only two days ago. Wonderful music from the age of enlightenment. If you can get your hands on this recording, do so. You will not be disappointed."
