"Like everyone else writing reviews about this music, hearing it was (and is) a pivotal event. It was right up there with Cream, Softs, and Ornette. I know every note of Henry's solo. My mother hated it then and my wife hates it now. Life's great, isn't it? No, really! But where's the DVD. Can you imagine seeing it too?"

"This is one of Canned Heat's best! It took me years to find the full 41 min version of Refried Boogie. Formed in 1966 by Bob "Bear" Hite and AL "Blind Owl" Wilson. This S Cal band is the essence of improv and Boogie. An out of print LP finally turned into a CD. Orginally recorded in 1969 live. .If you like Canned Heat, Boogie music or John Lee Hooker this is one for the collection. Also check out the colboration of John Lee Hooker in HOOKER N' HEAT."

"Because of the 40 minute plus "Refried Boogie", I was afraid that this would never be released in its entirety. The original Liberty LP sounded good but in comparision with that this CD reissue is as clear as a bell. The set has one studio disk and one live one. The hit "Going Up the Country" is featured along with the marvelous "Walking By Myself" which could have been a single as well. The 19 minute "Parthenogenesis" is divided into sections, giving each member of the band a moment in the spotlight. The Bear's vocal is accompanied by none other than John Mayall on piano.!! Check it out!!!"

"I was 15 years old and in an altered state of mind when I first heard Canned Heat, it was the summer of 69 at the Texas International Pop Festival. If I can remember correctly they started playing aroun 11pm and did'nt finish until 5am, prompting many of the local residents, some as close as 35 miles,to call the athorities. Needless to say the next night they made everyone shut down at eleven. Regardless Canned Heat played the boggie to the break of day. Living The Blues is one of the if not the greatest live recording ever!!!!!!!!!"

"Bought this album as a vinyl in the early 70's. When CD's arrived on the scene you could just not get it in Australia and still can't. Plenty of other Canned Heat but not this one.
Fortunately Amazon had it listed so I am now the proud owner of my all time favourite piece of music. Brings back great memories and my 14 year old daughter who is a Green Day fan thinks it is "quite good" with it's bouncy style.
The instrumentals are sensational and the best boogie music is timeless.It is a pity a Music DVD is not available."
