"Sometimes forgotten or overlooked records by artists you know prove to have some great work on them. Take Reinforcements by Brian Auger;s Oblivian Express.
This material is nothing like the work he did in the 1960s with Julie Driscol. This is slick, laid back, polished jazz. But it has nice grooves, a beatiful vocal group, and is never, never anticeptic. It uses bassa nova, calypso, and straight jazz, but the unifying thread is a pollish perfect production style.
Yet the soloing and musicianship is great, and there is a lot of subtance. I could listen to this music all day."
