CD ReviewsThe legendary Oistrakh/Konwitschny recording on only one CD Stephen Grabow | Lawrence, Kansas | 07/22/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "Rightfully regarded as one of the greatest Oistrakh recordings of all, the Dresden, East German collaboration with Konwitschny in the Brahms and Tchaikovsky concertos was previously only available in a 2-CD recording on DDG. Newly remastered, it is available at budget price on this Urania CD. Although recorded at a slightly low level, the additional boosting of volume does not produce additional hiss. In the Brahms, one immediately remembers that Oistrakh produced the most heavenly sound; and the Tchaikovsky just floats off the strings. A great CD."
