CD Reviews

2009 Japanese edition.

"My main reason for reviewing this title is to confirm that, at last, it's been remastered! The original 1986 CD never sounded great, 'soft' and somewhat muffled. The problem has been resolved here and the album finally is allowed to kick a#*.

Of course, SDAFF is the follow-up to 1983's mega-selling 'Faster Than The Speed Of Night'. For some reason, it didn't take off despite probably having more stand-out tracks than it's predecessor. Lead single, 'Loving You's A Dirty Job But Somebody's Gotta Do It' is majestic and the likes of opener 'Ravishing' and 'Rebel Without A Clue' (8 minutes!) aren't far behind either.

Bonnie's take on 'Band Of Gold' is fantastically over the top and Bryan Adams' 'No Way To Treat A Lady' is another highlight. Only a couple of tracks late on, 'Lovers Again' and 'Before The Night Is Through', are a little underwhelming, but overall the album is truly a lost classic.

There's a bonus track, too. A club mix of the album's only hit, 'Holding Out For A Hero', pretty good but the original is better.

So, if you want to upgrade and get rid of that dire 1986 CD, I'd surely recommend it. The LP style sleeve is lovely too and if you can find it at a decent price (and before it gets deleted ) I'd definitely go for it."
