More of what you buy a Greatest Hits CD for!

"Someone was paying attention, because the original version of "What You Won't Do For Love" is first on this CD. I was very disappointed in the "new" version, having bought Go West's "Indian Summer" CD years ago just for that tune. ("Indian Summer" is also highly recommended--a jewel if you can find it.) The CD liner says that it has been covered more than 70 times. I'm not surprised--but who would have thought that Tupak Shukur would mess with it? Many songs on this CD were covered by others, including "The Next Time I Fall" (Amy Grant and Peter Cetera), and "Heart of Mine" (Boz Scaggs, from "Other Roads." Not on this CD is "Night of Van Goh," which is also on "Other Roads." It's one of Bobby Caldwell's best, (not to mention Boz Scagg's) but it's only on "Other Roads". Doesn't even show up on Boz Scagg's "Anthology" CD. Two new songs, "Rain" and "Every Time You Say My Name" are very good as well. Looking forward to the next project from this man. I can't get enough of Bobby Caldwell!"

"Thank goodness for Larry Carlton. I was looking for his collaboration with TOTO's Steve Lukather, and pretty much right in front of it was this CD. Up to that point I had been familiar with Bobby Caldwell only as a songwriter (and a great one at that), so was surprised to learn of his extensive recorded output. Opening with "What You Won't Do For Love" (which, I swear I had never heard before) the disc is a delight from start to finish, and seems to sound even better each time you listen to it. Amongst my favourite cuts are "Open Your Eyes", "In The Name Of Love", "Janet", "Where Is Love" and "Rain". I was also most surprised to find that his version of "Heart Of Mine" - probably the first of his songs that I had known - managed to surpass the hit version by Boz Scaggs in quality. "Next Time I Fall" is also superior (IMHO) to the duet version by Peter Cetera and Amy Grant, which I always thought was brilliant as it was.A great artist, and one this collection has made me very interested in investigating much more thoroughly."

"I knew Caldwell's music since I was very young. Back then I used to listened to You Promised Me. I followed all his albums until recently his anthology was released. This 2nd part Anthology IMHO has better selection than the 1st one. Simply because I just don't like the songs. But in this 2nd volume most of my fav are here! It's nice to hear again What You Won't Do For Love. This time in original version. Then 6 songs from "Heart of Mine". Wow! Overall it's a really good selection of his greatest hits.I really missed songs like Sherry, Carry On,You Promised Me and Puerto Rico (from OMPS Salsa) which were not included on both Anthologies. Those 4 are among my all-time fav."
