CD Reviews

Bob Mintzer's band is excellent

"Latin from Manhattan is an excellent cd, and some of Mintzer's best work. My favorite tune on the album is "O Ye Como Va," because the counterpoint in the horns is just awesome. The rest of the cd is very tight, and in traditional Mintzer-sounding style. A very, very good cd and a must have for all modern big band fans."

"I'm admittedly a latecomer in appreciating this fine work; I've recently heard it for the first time on the radio. I'm fortunate to live in a metropolitan area [Denver] that has a radio station which provides airplay to music of this caliber [kuvo.org.] I've always been a fan of Mintzer's tenor work but this band is incredible! Listen to the triumphant, joyous and swinging "New Rochelle" - what a gem of a piece and flawless execution throughout. I hope some good and kind soul will find a way to allow this recording to be distributed at some point in the future!"
