CD Reviews

Excellent for the Genre

(4 out of 5 stars)

"BRT are very good at what they do. They didnt re-invent themselves, but I do hear a slight change on this one. Better riffs and song structures. Branching out ever so slightly, yet not nearly far enough to call this a groundbreaking disc. No one will accuse them of abandoning their sound. If you liked any of their prior material, you will eat this up as I did.

I find it hard to give any death metal band 5 stars simply for the fact that there is little room for growth and/or vocal adversity in this style of music. It is what it is. There is no difference here, so I wont do a ridiculous song by song breakdown. This disc is about 38 minutes of pure death metal bliss! Grunting, Gutteral vocals throughout and incredible speed break downs with that double bass pedal going 100 MPH (Especially on 'Human Fraud'.. Sick). Again, nothing too original, but hits the spot when you are in the mood for such brazenly heavy music. It is a Scandinavian band playing Florida 90's style death metal, and doing it right.

I own all their discs and I must say this one is a bit more tame in its execution. just a 'bit'. But it is also BETTER for it! The fast parts are VERY fast! There are solid groove structured riffs that start several tracks and break away from the speed assault ever so slightly. There are more straight thrash rhythm sections. Arrangement wise they have grown. It sounds like they are much tighter and focused now.

The production is absolutely fantastic! You can actually HEAR the bass at times, which you couldn't say on some of their prior discs. 100% crank-able!

T-Chort and Co. could probably put out 3 of these type CD's a year because there really isn't a lot to distinguish this genre of music. But if you want something new and really get off on Heavy, fast and just plain brutal death metal, you will love this disc! There is just enough originality to keep you interested, and the fresh production and mix make it candy to the ears. A good buy for the death metallers. I don't listen to this type of stuff often, but BRT are at the forefront of this genre in my opinion. Very satisfied.
