Synopsis

Album Description
"Helicopter", from their "Silent Alarm" release, appears on this record in its original format as well as remixed by some of indie rock's hottest names. This is also the first in a series of remix releases (called "Connect The Dots") where some of the world's most famous DJs and bands remix a track by an established or up and coming artist on the indie rock scene. This record sees Weird Science duo (Steve Aoki of Dim Mak and Blake Miller of Moving Units) bring in Peaches for their remix, and sees M.I.A.'s DJ Diplo bust out his version of the track. Also included is the Whitey remix previously released on the Vice/Dim Mak "Silent Alarm Remixed" record. The 12-inch is a true DJ single and includes just the two new remixes from Weird Science and Diplo.

CD Reviews

Buy even if you own "Silent Alarm"....
Pop Culture Master | USA | 12/17/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I bought Silent Alarm many months ago, and it's definitely one of the best of 2005. "Helicopter", a really great, edgy pop song, is on the album, but "Always New Depths" is not. "Always New Depths" is the song that first introduced me to Bloc Party when I heard it on a commercial. It's a truly fantastic song lyrically and instrumentally, perhaps my favorite Bloc Party song. So even if you own Silent Alarm, it is definitely worth it to buy this for "Always New Depths"."

"Helicopter isn't really my favorite song on "Silent Alarm," but you should own the song "Always New Depths." It is arguably one of Bloc Party's greatest songs, by far. I think this is the only cd its on so I strongly recommend you get this, as well as their excellent debut "Silent Alarm.""

"This EP is fantastic, it's like how all EPs should be, the B sides as good as the A side, it reminds of getting a Stone Roses, Smiths or New Order EP where you would get tracks that weren't on the album but could have been there if they'd had the room to fit them on. Anyway this band remind me strongly of Ride for no particular reason and I just have to say that the track 'Always New Depths' contains my second best guitar moment ever, it's their best song in my opinion (and that includes the album). I could listen to the last 30 seconds of that song forever."
