Synopsis

Album Description
2009 two CD set. A former member of The Hilltoppers and music director for Dot Records, Billy Vaughn was also one of the most popular orchestra leaders and Pop music arrangers of the `50s. In fact, Vaughn had more Pop hits than any other orchestra leader during the Rock 'N' Roll era. Melody Of Love contains the unmistakable sound of Billy Vaughn and his orchestra they romp through the hits 'Shifting Whispering Sands', 'Melody Of Love' and the fantastic twin-sax sound on 'Sail Along Silvery Moon' and 'Raunchy'. As well as the hits you'll find plenty of superb album tracks throughout this incredible double disc set. Jasmine.

CD Reviews

Great Billy Vaughn But Yet Again wrong/unfinished masters!
Bill Busse | Fairmont, MN United States | 07/06/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Being a long time Billy Vaughn fan, I've looked forward to this release. Two CDs with 58 songs cannot be beat BUT there are a few errors in track selection: the actual hit recording of SAIL ALONG SILVRY MOON is not included in this compilation. The master used is missing the sax overdub which creates the 'twin sax' sound. The same goes for MORGEN: again the master used is missing the sax overdub.

The song listed as WHEN THE WHITE LILACS BLOOM AGAIN is actually a different song titled MOON MIST.

I compliment the producers/compilers at Jasmine for their many fine CDs. And this one is no exception because we have a number of hits which are not usually included on Billy Vaughn CDS as well as some great album cuts. The disappointment in the inclusion of the wrong/incomplete masters could be avoided if compilers would take the time to listen to the original recordings which are readily available on 78,45 and many times the original LPs."
