"I read below how one reviewer hoped Bilal was not a one hit wonder. Well I can tell you he is not. Just listen to Common's album like water for Chocolate. He is on track 6 with Jill Scott another great new talent as well as tracks 9, 10. He is also on track 5 of Guru's jazzamataz volume 3 which is my favorite Bilal jam to date. He is bonifide. He works with common the roots and Guru some of the best in the biz and has already worked with Jill scott. His full lenth LP should drop soon and look for him to rival Badu and D'angelo for pipes and soulful hip hop/r&b. Watch the emergence of a new star."

"I only bought this cd on 1/6/01 and I can't take it off repeat!! I am anxiously waiting on this talented artist's cd to drop and blow up the charts. With his inspiration Miles Davis, and a flavor unique and all his own; this young man will definitly be hitting the charts. Yes he is reminiscent to D'Angelo, and as well the Roots, yet he surpasses with a mixture of jazz. The song "Sometimes" is reminiscent of the later 1970's and "Love Poems" definitly will be a hit. 1st Born Second is going to be number one with a bullet!!"

"Somebody please recognize the realness that's coming from the underground of these urban streets. This song gives me a cool vibe feeling like when I first heard D'Angelo's "Brown Suga". The writting and lyrics for this song is on point. I can't wait until the release of anything else by this guy. I really don'y care too much for the track he did with Guru on the Jazzmatazz3 joint, but the background vocals he layed down on Common's CD were tight. This is a great song and should have much more air play on the radio. oNe"
