Marini As A Vocal Composer
N. Fronczak | Warren, MI | 06/18/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"For those of us out there, and we're an ever growing number, who are familiar with the Early and High Baroque composers, this CD is a true find.

We're fairly acquainted with Marini's instrumental pieces, namely his sonatas but this CD gives an excellent account of his vocal writing as well. It's hard to believe that this is a reissue of an LP first recorded back in 1978-79 because it sounds fresh and vibrant as if recorded within the last few months. A testament to not only the composer's genius but of course the performers involved. The Consort of Musick, as always, is a pleasure not to be missed. Emma Kirkby's singing, Anthony Rooley's - Trevor Jones' playing/direction and all parties concerned have produced a literal classic! Do not pass this one by!!!"
