"This CD + book combination documents Bernie Krause's 3 decades of field recordings. Nobody does it better. Bernie's many releases are uniformly excellent, both sonically and "compositionally" as he finds and records unique sonic landscapes which really hold your attention. Sadly, as documented in the accompanying book, many of the environments he has captured over the years are now clear-cut, strip-mined or bulldozed. The world he documents is shrinking every year, and these may be your last chance to experience some of these wildernesses. Don't let them pass out of existence without pausing to appreciate what we've lost.I gave this package only 4 stars out of 5 because the truth is so depressing -- and I can't do anything about it."
