"I bought this at [local store] at a reduce price... The performance was not at Fürtwangler standards, but good, and excellent considering the price.Giya Assatiani solos in the 4th movement were good, crystal clear, with what seemed like forceful projection. The 2nd and 4th movements, my favorites in the 9th, were just right. I've heard some recordings of this standard which seemed a little washed out, but this one is better than many selling for much more money.I've bought several of the HDC recordings for listening at work. The series appears to be recordings from various orchestras in the former Soviet Union.Note that these comments are all from hearing the album played on a PC sound card with company-issue headphones...a real sound system will probably give better results. However, for the price, it's a good buy for my purposes."
