It is hysterical from the first note to the last. But during rehearsals she was the despair of everyone connected with any of her shows. She would only "read" her lines, with no business and no interpretation. But came the night, as they say, she was "on," and delighted everyone--from Noel Coward to Gertrude Lawrence to Ivor Novello to Cochran to royalty.
