Synopsis

Album Description
Debut 10 track CD from NYC`s new pop heroes! Belle & Sebastian meets the Television Personalities? Splash in a dose of The Kinks and some of your favorite French 60s pop. Described by some as "the soundtrack to a film featuring Belle & Sebastian and the Television Personalities playing spin the bottle, circa 1966." The Baskervilles turn the rush of meeting a potential lover in a dingy bar into a sweeping, cinematic 3 minute pop opera. Keyboard-driven pop with lyrics designed to be simple, cinematic narratives and open ended romantic stories, many pertaining to New York City. Produced by Mitch Easter and Al Houghton.

CD Reviews

An excellent album

"I have to say, I am quite impressed by this CD. The songs are passionate and true; and very catchy/memorable. A lot of bands coming out these days all sound the same, but The Baskervilles definitely stand apart from most. They are original and creative, and have truly assembled a magnificent album. There are several musical styles represented here, all molding into the original sound of the band. Definitely pick up this CD! You'll enjoy it for years to come."
Gently uplifting and lilting....

"Hearing music like one wonders waht could be better sounding? Not much, damn these guys and gal are real good, tight melodies B&S style muscianship and discreet vocals all make for one very fine listen. This band has maybe what fifteen original songs under their belt, if you include their most recent spectacular 'Midnight' EP. We need more output from these New Yorkers. Heavily influenced by British bands like 60's Kinks, 70's Jam & american indie-pop, can't say enough good things about the Baskervilles get this & their EP, you will enjoy.

It gets better every time I play it!

"It's rare to find a band that can balance great hooks and intriguing arrangements. Production by Mitch Easter helps. Like his best projects, Let's Active and R.E.M., the Baskervilles songs are over brimming with melody and substance. The lyrics remind me of classic Kinks. The album gets better and better every time I listen to it. Highlights - "Day One, Amanda Year" and the spooky "That Is The Scene"."
