Not a Review! A Protest!

"Even by the cavalier standards of amazon's indifference to classical music, this CD has been treated shabbily. The information posted is mostly wrong; none of the modern composers listed - Hindemith, Saeverud, etc. - have anything to do with this recording. The track listings of the madrigals on the two disks, all by Barbara Strozzi, are correct, but the samples are absurdly incorrect and misplaced.

Nevertheless, I'm ordering the double CD on the strength of other performances by the "Orlando di Lasso Ensemble", and giving the recording a presumptive five star rating. The same ensemble has recorded a superb version of the Italian madrigals, Opus 1, of Heinrich Schütz, as well as the very best version I've ever heard of the Italian madrigals of their namesake, Orlando di Lasso.

When this package arrives - assuming that it doesn't turn out to be songs by Barbara Streisand in lieu of Strozzi - I'll replace this protest with a real review."
