Synopsis

Album Description
The game of R&B has seen its fair share of players over the past decade. Many have been drafted, but few have possessed that special talent needed to stay relevant in today's ever-changing marketplace. Avant entered the arena of R&B in 2000 with his debut album My Thoughts, which featured the hit single "Separated". Not only would his first single claim the #1 position on the Billboard R&B Chart, but with the success of other classic ballads on the album such as "My First Love" feat. Keke Wyatt, My Thoughts would go onto sell over 1 million copies. Unrelenting in his desire to continue to make hit records, the singer/songwriter would go on to deliver three more unprecedented albums, including his most recent album to date, Director, which featured one of the biggest R&B ballads of 2006, "4 Minutes." With four albums under his belt the Avant brand has been established, and his loyal fans eagerly await yet another soulful addition to the collection from the R&B crooner. For his new self-titled album, Avant has called on the talents of some of today's hottest producers, including: Trackmasters (LL Cool J), Antonio Dixon & Eric Dawkins a.k.a Anonymous Entertainment (Fantasia) and The Architects (Missy Elliott). With his distinguishable sultry vocals, accompanied by an all-star production team, fans will definitely be pleased when they sit back, relax, reflect and listen to AVANT.

Very Impressed

"I have to say that I'm not an Avant lover. His past CDs had so many stupid songs that I refused to ever listen to him again, until..........

I enjoyed this cd from start to finish. You can hear his maturity and grown."
Just Love Me Some Avant!!!!!:)

"I've been down with Avant since Ecstacy. I don't know what it is about him but it's something. I even except the fast songs that I think should not be on his albums..lol..it's like oh well that's just Avant. Mostly I think it's the substance of a lot of ballads that he's done. He makes some of the most amazing beautiful slow jams and mid tempo songs! All I know is I really love his style and his music definitely stands out to me. You know an Avant song when you hear it. I wish him the best with this new album so he can keep on putting out albums. I don't ever want him to stop!!!"
Another Winner From Avant

"Avant has often been seen by some, as a poor man's R. Kelly, which I find to be an insult to Avant's talent, especially after hearing Avant sing live for the first time at a recent concert. On his fifth self -titled CD in his eight year career, Avant continues to provide more noteworthy slow jams. Some of the standouts on the CD include the singles When It Hurts & Break Ya Back (In A Good Way) and the baby maker Experiment & the sentimental You. As most R&B CD's go there are a few missteps with the up-tempo tracks, but Avant redeems himself with his soulful rendition of the Christopher Cross classic, Sailing. For his next album I'd love to see what Avant could do with a cover of Glen Jones I've Been Searching (Nobody Like You) or Miles Jaye's I've Been A Fool For You and avoid the up-tempo club tracks since he's a stronger balladeer and not a R&B thug.

Hottest tracks

1. When It Hurts

2. Break Ya Back ( In A Good Way)

3. Sailing

4. You

5. French

Missteps

1. Attention feat. Snoop Dogg

Its shame that Avant didn't work with better producers like The-Dream or Stargate to craft better up-tempo material; he also should have reunited with Steve Huff who crafted the masterpiece that was his first CD, however Avant has enough slow jams on this CD to please fan old and new.
