Synopsis

Amazon.com
The score by Atli Örvarsson for Vantage Point has its moment of brief calm, with the opening main theme. but from there on, the tension is ratcheted up. There are passages of near-exotic intrigue, ("Enrique and Veronica"), hybrid orchestra and electronic pulse quickenings ("Clockwork"), and rhythmic cavalcades (The Chase Begins"). There are a few pieces that offer momentary respite ("Epilogue"), but given the foreboding that surrounds them, they end up feeling like doom and disaster are always lurking in the shadows. The film's dark bearing is powerfully underscored by the use of dozens of cellists and bass players. Örvarsson's work in television (including NYPD Blue and Law & Order: Criminal Intent) has made him adept at the quick cutting and brief scenes associated with contemporary thrillers. --David Greenberger

CD Reviews

Remote Control Guy to Watch
Robert Lavner | 03/02/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Very good debut album for Atli. The main title (1) and closing cut (15) are excellent. Has a "Man On Fire" sound. Hans Zimmer acted as consultant

and Nick Glennie was the conductor so it has the "famous" Remote Control

sound. If you like that sound you'll love the CD. Music worked well in the Movie and plays well as a stand-alone. Like Jablonsky Atli is a guy

I'll be watching.

What a beautiful soundtrack
Washington Mutual | 02/28/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have not heard many scores from Mr. Orvarsson since he appears to be a new name in the composer list. I would never expect the soundtrack to this movie to be so beautiful. From the Main Titles to the End Titles--very calming and touching. Some tracks are faster and upbeat to match the tension and action sequences; but even they have a bit of Eastern elements to them. Very surprised with this. Amazing music. I will be listening for more works by Mr. Orvarsson."
